 2022 Preview 


       American Christian completed the 2021 season with a 11-2 record. Last year American Christian captured the region three title and a number one seed in the Class 4A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. American Christian lost in the quarter-finals of the playoffs last season to a good Vigor team by a score of 26-10.

       The high-scoring American Christian offense ranked 19th in the AHSAA. They averaged 40.5 points a game.

       Over the past two seasons the Patriots have gone 24-3 and will be looking to continue that winning tradition. Since 2010, American Christian has gone a combined 109-39. Their 73.6% winning percentage ranks 3rd in Class 4A over the past twelve seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, American Christian has gone a combined 234-75. Their 76.0% winning percentage ranks 2nd in Class 4A and 13th in the AHSAA. The Patriots have been successful on the football field with twenty-one winning seasons during this time.




       The Patriots are led by head coach Cody Martin who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 11-2 record in his first season at American Christian. Under his direction the Patriots have qualified for the playoffs once. They have won one region crown with Coach Martin.

       Coach Martin's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 11-2 (84.6%).

       The American Christian Patriots will play in Class 4A region three during the 2022 season.

       The Patriots enter the 2022 season riding a 9 game regular season winning streak. American Christian has won 7 consecutive region games. They have won 7 straight games on their home turf at Freedom Field.

       The Patriots should be considered one of the favorites for the region three championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs. The Patriots have successfully qualified for the playoffs every year since 2014 and expect to be included again when November rolls around.

       The Patriots open the 2022 season at home against non-region opponent Demopolis on Friday, August 19 at Freedom Field. Last year the Demopolis Tigers finished with an overall record of 7-5 and in first place in Class 5A region three. The Tigers lost in the second round of the Class 5A playoffs to Andalusia by a score of 48-26.

       American Christian and Demopolis have met a total of 4 times on the football field. The Patriots have a 0-4-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2013 with Demopolis winning by a score of 35-0.

       American Christian returns 4A All-State Senior receiver Chance Henderson. He was named to the second team last season. The Patriots also return Senior athlete Sawyer Deerman. He was named to the first team.

Collinsville completed the 1931 season with a record of 1-4-5. The five ties will forever be a state record since all games are now decided by overtime.
